KELAH HOUSE IN MBALE, UGANDA

We are now having to make some difficult decisions about longer term planning and sustainable development. We have commissioned a Company to help us explore other funding streams to allow our Charities to continue their excellent work when we are no longer in a position to fund this ourselves. This offers really exciting opportunities to expand our essential work in supporting education and rehabilitation. It moves us away from the unilateral role of ‘white saviour’ and towards a true partnership where increasing independence will foster sustainable financial independence in the longer term. Our role will become that of friends and advisors, rather than funders and gatekeepers. This has to be the right direction of travel for all concerned.

Our programs at both the Academy of Hope in South Sudan and Kelah House in Uganda have already together supported over 300 disadvantaged young people since 2017, offering them care, concern and education and the chance to improve not just their prospects, but those of their fellow countrymen.
